1 - 3 PM
We are super buzzed to offer this workshop for beginner/intermediate level dancers at the Beehive! Connect to your Inner Goddess and come dance with us! Belly dance, which dates back to ancient times, is a relaxing, low impact form of dance exercise that can relieve stress while toning your body. In this workshop, we will learn how to use the classic veil prop and apply simple combinations to a short routine. Music and choreography will be included. All level dancers are welcome to attend this workshop, including beginners! Bring a veil if you have it, otherwise, you may borrow one.
**We will be dancing on carpet, so feel free to wear socks, slippers, or non-rubberized bottom shoes. You may also dance in your bare feet for grounding ;)**
Investment: $25. We have a limit of 15 students for this workshop.
June T. Minaya (stage name “Queen Minaya”) is a local artist and dance instructor in the Mechanicsburg & New Cumberland areas. She has been teaching beginner and intermediate level belly dance for 4 years. She began her journey with belly dance in 2010, and over the years, has come to specialize in Folkloric/Traditional Middle Eastern dance, as well as newer forms of theatrical/fusion styles of belly dance. After performing with several troupes and taking classes & workshops with master instructors, she has come to find that her focus, dedication, and joy comes out when she teaches others to dance. She especially enjoys bringing her artful visions to life through her students with her original choreography. “ I love introducing belly dance to beginners, it’s magical to see someone come out of their shell and shine..”
