When the Great Blue Heron Opened Her Heart
Great Blue Heron Opening Its Heart
There are moments when nature seems to whisper.
And then there are moments when she answers so clearly that you simply stand in awe.
Last week, Katie McCormick, James Rowe, and I stepped into the refreshing waters of the Conodoguinet Creek to prepare something that has been quietly growing in my heart for more than twenty years.
We weren't there to host an event.
We were there to listen.
To explore the logistics of a new offering, begin a photo shoot, and experience this beautiful sanctuary before inviting others into it.
ðŠķ As soon as we entered the creek, a magnificent Great Blue Heron gracefully flew from the very place where we had stepped into the water to a quiet area nearly fifty feet downstream. There, she landed on the opposite bank and began watching us.
As we carried the massage table into position, arranged our instruments, and slowly transformed this peaceful stretch of creek into a healing sanctuary, the Heron became increasingly curious.
Rather than flying away, she began walking slowly along the water's edge directly across from us.
Step by deliberate step.
Watching.
Listening.
Present.
For more than an hour, she remained there.
She wasn't simply passing through.
She seemed genuinely interested in everything unfolding before her. ðĐĩ
As therapeutic sound began drifting across the water, I looked around and smiled.
It no longer felt like there were only three facilitators standing in the creek.
It felt like there were five.
ð Katie McCormick
ð James Rowe
ð The Great Blue Heron
ð§The Water
ð ...and me.
Held together in a quiet moment that words can barely describe.
In that instant, something settled deeply within my heart.
This is exactly where these sessions belong.
ðķ An Unexpected Participant
To prepare for these new private sessions, we carefully walked through every step of the experience together.
Each of us took turns becoming both facilitator and client.
We practiced listening deeply for the client's intentions.
We created personalized Alchemical Affirmative Prayers based on those intentions ~ a transformational practice I have refined over the past twenty-one years and now teach as one of the cornerstone tools of the Beehive Mystery School.
Then the client was invited to rest comfortably on the massage table as therapeutic sound unfolded all around.
Native flutes.
Himalayan singing bowls.
Gongs.
Shruti Box.
Harmonium.
Ocean drum.
Voice.
The living orchestra of birdsong, flowing water, and the gentle whisper of the breeze.
Throughout the session, Advanced Energy Work and Shamanic Reiki were lovingly woven into the experience, allowing every modality to work together in support of nervous system regulation, emotional well-being, energetic balance, and meaningful inner transformation.
During one of these sessions, I was using a ceremonial drum to help focus intention and support the deliberate transmutation of dense energetic patterns within the client's energetic field.
Because my attention was completely devoted to the client, I didn't notice what was happening across the creek.
Later, Danielle and Katie shared something I had completely missed.
The Great Blue Heron had climbed onto a fallen log.
She slowly stretched upward.
Then she opened and folded her magnificent wings ~ not for flight ~ but into a broad resting posture, exposing her heart.
And there she remained.
For more than thirty minutes.
Holding that posture.
Watching.
Present.
By the time the session was complete, the Heron was still resting in that extraordinary posture. I quietly turned toward the opposite bank and saw her for myself, her heart still beautifully open toward us.
Whether one views moments like this symbolically, spiritually, or simply as one of nature's beautiful mysteries, I couldn't help but experience it as though the Heron had chosen not merely to observe our work...
...but to participate in it.
To help hold the space.
To witness the unfolding of a twenty-year dream.
To feel the presence of this majestic being seemingly joining us in the energetic field was beyond words.
It was, quite honestly...
beyond the beyond. ðĐĩâĻðŠ―
The Great Blue Heron is often called the King of the Marsh.
Standing there in the flowing waters of the Conodoguinet Creek, however...
I couldn't help but smile.
To me...
she felt like the Queen of the Creek. ððĶðĐĩ
ðĐĩ The Medicine of the Great Blue Heron
For those who walk the path of animal symbolism and Indigenous wisdom, the Great Blue Heron carries profound medicine.
She is often associated with self-determination, self-reliance, and the courage to follow one's own unique path. The Heron teaches us to trust our inner knowing rather than leaning on external pillars. Standing gracefully upon her long, slender legs, she reminds us that true stability does not come from having everything figured out ~ it comes from learning to find balance within ourselves.
The Heron is resourceful.
Patient.
Uniquely herself.
She does not imitate other birds or follow the flock. She finds her own way of thriving, adapting to changing waters with remarkable grace. She embodies the quiet confidence that allows us to evolve, to progress, and to trust life's unfolding without forcing the next step.
For those who know me well, you know this beautiful bird has walked beside me as one of my deepest animal totems for more than twenty years. Through countless seasons of healing, transformation, an spiritual unfolding, the Great Blue Heron has taught me fearless independence and ownership of my power.
As I reflected on her presence after we left the creek, I was deeply touched.
How perfectly her medicine mirrored the very journey that had brought us there.
ðĶ A Dream Twenty Years in the Making
What many people don't know is that this experience didn't begin this summer.
It began more than twenty years ago.
Long before Bee Present Wellness.
Long before the Beehive Mystery School.
Long before I could imagine how something like this might ever become possible...
I carried a quiet vision in my heart.
I dreamed of creating an oasis where clients could receive holistic healing immersed in the living embrace of water.
Even then, I sensed that water was far more than a beautiful setting.
Water is one of nature's greatest conductors.
It carries movement.
Presence.
Vibration.
Life.
I could feel how therapeutic sound, prayer, and energy work would be amplified within such an environment.
But I never knew if it would happen.
Or when.
Or how.
Eventually, I released the vision into the Universe.
I simply carried it quietly in my heart and trusted that if it belonged in my path, life would reveal the way.
Not all at once.
But one balanced step at a time.
Much like the Heron herself.
Then, after we finished offering our second Creekside Nectar community gathering and mindfully began packing away the instruments, the gentle current flowed around my legs.
Suddenly, that twenty-year-old vision came rushing back to me.
Only this time something was profoundly different.
Back then, I had imagined offering healing beside the water.
Now...
the healing would happen within the water itself.
Standing there, I realized the dream had quietly matured over two decades.
Without forcing.
Without rushing.
Simply waiting for the right season to emerge.
Perhaps that is why the Heron's presence felt so deeply affirming.
Not because she gave me something I didn't already know...
but because she reflected back what had been quietly growing within me all along.
Sometimes our dreams don't disappear.
They simply wait for us to become the person capable of bringing them into the world.
ð Introducing Private Creekside Nectar
Way More Than a Sound Bath
Today, with a grateful and humble heart, I am honored to introduce our newest offering.
Private Creekside Nectar.
Before each Creekside Nectar community gathering, we will offer a very limited number of one-on-one immersive healing sessions in the creek itself.
Imagine a client resting comfortably on a massage table nestled within the gentle flow of the Conodoguinet Creek while therapeutic sound unfolds from every direction.
The flowing water.
The songs of birds.
The whisper of the breeze.
Native flutes.
Himalayan singing bowls.
Gongs.
Shruti Box.
Harmonium.
Ocean drum.
Voice.
Nature herself becomes part of the orchestra.
Before the sound immersion begins, one of our facilitators spends time listening deeply to the client's heart, creating a personalized Alchemical Affirmative Prayer based upon their intentions.
Throughout the experience, therapeutic sound is lovingly woven together with Advanced Energy Work and Shamanic Reiki, creating a deeply individualized session designed to support nervous system regulation, emotional well-being, energetic balance, and meaningful inner transformation.
This is why we lovingly call it...
Way More Than a Sound Bath.
It is a trauma-informed healing sanctuary where personalized intention, therapeutic sound, compassionate care, Advanced Energy Work, Shamanic Reiki, prayer, and the wisdom of the natural world become one.
This isn't simply something a client listens to.
It is something they receive.
Something they feel.
And for many...
something they will remember long after the final note dissolves into the song of the creek.
ð With Deep Gratitude
Dreams like this never come to life alone.
My heartfelt gratitude goes to Danielle Martin, and Shawn Weber for your generosity, encouragement, and willingness to help bring this vision into the world.
Thank you for believing in something that lived quietly in my heart for so many years.
ðŋ Sometimes the Greatest Ideas Begin in a Creek
Sometimes our greatest ideas don't begin in a boardroom.
They begin with our feet in the water.
With birds singing overhead.
With sacred instruments echoing across a quiet creek.
With a Great Blue Heron opening her heart.
And with a handful of people willing to say yes to creating something beautiful together.
This experience reminded me that when we slow down enough to truly listen, nature has an extraordinary way of affirming the path before us.
We are deeply honored to open this living sanctuary and welcome others into it.
Perhaps the creek has been waiting for them, too.
With gratitude, wonder, and love,
