As a little girl, I watched the relationship between my mother and my grandmother and understood far more than I had words for.

I saw tension. I felt what wasn't being said. And although I couldn't understand it then, those early experiences shaped something in me. Decades later, I walked into a sound-healing class excited to explore the monochord, learn more about the shruti box, and deepen a relationship with sound that has accompanied me since childhood.

🪶 As soon as we entered the creek, a magnificent Great Blue Heron gracefully flew from the very place where we had stepped into the water to a quiet area nearly fifty feet downstream. There, she landed on the opposite bank and began watching us.

As we carried the massage table into position, arranged our instruments, and slowly transformed this peaceful stretch of creek into a healing sanctuary, the Heron became increasingly curious.

Rather than flying away, she began walking slowly along the water's edge directly across from us.

We belong to the Earth.
And the Earth belongs to no one.
