Location: Urey Overlook, 1225 Furnace Rd, Airville, PA 17302, USA
An ancestral ceremony of pagamento, honoring the river as a living being and restoring balance through offering and prayer.
“The shaman may serve by removing energies that are inappropriately present, or by returning energies that have been lost.”
— University of Minnesota
We invite you to a rare and sacred gathering on one of the oldest and most significant rivers in the world—the Susquehanna River ~ at the powerful location of Urey Overlook, a place known for its ancient presence, natural beauty, and nearby Indigenous petroglyphs and artifacts that speak to thousands of years of human relationship with this land.
This is the same sacred region where we were honored to gather with the Mamos and Zagas last year ~ a continuation of an unfolding relationship with this land, its waters, and its ancestral memory.
We will be joined once again by the Mamos and Zagas ~ the spiritual leaders of the Kogi, Wiwa, Arhuaco, and Kankuama peoples of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia.
These Elders are part of the Tezhuna, an Indigenous lineage that preserved its spiritual traditions by retreating deep into the Sierra Nevada mountains during the Spanish Conquest. For thousands of years, they have maintained an unbroken connection to what they call Earth’s Original Law ~ the responsibility to care for and maintain balance between humanity, nature, and the spiritual world.
The Mamos (male Elders) and Zagas (female priestesses) are trained from early childhood in ceremony, healing, divination, and planetary stewardship. Their role is to remain in constant dialogue with the Earth, listening to the rivers, mountains, winds, and unseen forces that sustain life, and to restore harmony where imbalance has arisen.
A Ceremony of Pagamento for the River
This gathering will be a pagamento ceremony ~ an offering and act of reciprocity with the natural world.
In the tradition of the Mamos and Zagas, pagamento is a sacred practice of restoring balance. It is a way of giving back to the Earth and the waters, acknowledging the unseen agreements between humanity and nature, and offering gratitude for life itself.
Together, we will gather in a ceremony to:
Offer prayers and energetic offerings to the Susquehanna River
Acknowledge the river as a living being with memory and spirit
Participate in a guided ceremony led by the Mamos and Zagas
Restore the relationship and balance with the land and waters
Honor the ancient presence held within this sacred landscape
This is not symbolic ~ it is a lived spiritual practice of reciprocity and alignment with Earth’s living systems.
Why This Place Matters
The Susquehanna River is among the oldest river systems in the world, carrying the memory of countless generations. The land surrounding Urey Overlook holds deep ancestral significance, including ancient Indigenous petroglyphs and artifacts that reflect a long-standing relationship with this watershed.
To gather here in ceremony is to step into continuity ~ joining past, present, and future in a shared act of care for the Earth.
Held in Sacred Relationship
The Mamos and Zagas serve as spiritual stewards of balance for the natural world. Their presence here is not as visitors, but as part of a broader commitment to restoring harmony between humanity and the Earth’s living systems.
Through their guidance, we are invited to listen more deeply—to the river, to the land, and to our own place within the web of life.
Bring (If you are called!): Participants are invited to arrive with respect, presence, and openness. If desired, small natural offerings (such as seeds, shells, crystals, or feathers) may be brought as a gesture of reciprocity.
A Rare Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to participate in a ceremony on the banks of a living river that has witnessed thousands of years of human history.
A moment to slow down.
To listen.
To offer.
And to remember our relationship with the Earth.
If you feel called to be part of this gathering in service to balance, water, and life itself…
Love and blessings,
Denise, Michael, and our special host, Jaque Hanson, Founder of Bee Present Wellness, LLC.
Investment: The exchange for the morning event is a donation of $144.00 and is tax-deductible.
